THE GRID IS NOT A CAGE.
Twelve columns. Sixteen pixels of air between them. Every element accounted for, every whitespace intentional. This is a site about grid design, built by obeying the grid it describes — Müller-Brockmann's ghost looking over our shoulder.
The Manifesto
Order Is Not Sterile
A grid does not remove personality — it removes noise. What remains is the decision that mattered. Every margin here is a choice, not an accident of the browser's default stylesheet.
Hierarchy Is Loud
Twelve-word display type beside eleven-pixel captions. The contrast is the message: some things demand your eye first, everything else waits its turn in silence.
Red Means Something
One accent color, used sparingly, means something every time it appears. Scatter your emphasis and you have no emphasis left — this is the whole argument against decoration for its own sake.
Whitespace Is Structural
The paper is not empty — it is doing work. Air between elements is a typographic decision as deliberate as the words themselves, never a leftover.
Motion Earns Its Keep
Every animation on this page reveals structure that was already there — a line masking into view, a number counting to its true value. Nothing moves to impress; it moves to clarify.
Legibility Beats Cleverness
If a reader has to squint, the designer has failed regardless of how elegant the composition looks in a portfolio screenshot. Function, then form — always in that order.
